A site about leaked data should collect as little of it as possible. So breachmonitor collects none: no cookies are set here, and no consent banner is needed.

The exposure check

The self-check on the home page is a set of tick-boxes scored in your browser. It never asks for your email address or password, it makes no network request, and nothing you tick is stored, transmitted or logged. Reload the page and it is gone.

Why there is no banner

Consent banners exist because sites store or read information on your device for tracking. We do not: no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies, no fingerprinting, no third-party tags.

Local storage: one preference

The only thing written to your device is your light-or-dark theme choice, kept under the key bm-theme so the site remembers how you like to read it. It never leaves your browser, and clearing site data deletes it.

Measuring readership

Visit counts come from a cookieless analytics script that reports aggregate page views. It builds no profile of you and cannot follow you to other sites.
